Hi, my name is Derek Radney, and I am the college director at Calvary Baptist Church here in Winston Salem. College is a major adjustment for most people. For many people, leaving your home church to find a church in college is a difficult and even frightening challenge. For others who have not grown up in church, college provides a fresh opportunity to investigate who Jesus Christ really is.
Our hope here at Calvary is that each student will learn to love God and find their ultimate satisfaction and joy in Him. We believe that this is only possible by trusting in the promises of God, specifically, by faith in the good news of Jesus Christ.
I recognize that college presents many challenges to students who have grown up in church because it is often the first time students face strong intellectual challenges to their faith. We do not shy away from those challenges here at Calvary, nor do we respond to these challenges with a blind, irrational, leap of faith. Instead, we hope to engage these challenges head on while examining sound biblical study.
So, whether you are a Christian or whether you are someone who has questions about what Christianity is all about, I want to invite you to join us Sunday mornings for our college class and corporate worship. I hope the following information provides you with a better understanding of our church.
